On the evening of October 5, 2013 Kelsey Legg was arrested by Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office detectives. She turned in herself at the Charleston Police Department. She was arrested on the outstanding warrant for felony murder in connection with the investigation of the disappearance and murder of Kareem Hunter.
Ms. Legg was booked and taken to Kanawha County Magistrate Court where Magistrate Joe Shelton arraigned her. No bond was set. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 10, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.
The investigation into the crime will continue. Detectives still ask anyone with information to contact them at 304-357-0169 or submit an anonymous tip at www.kanawhasheriff.us.
Particularly, the investigators are seeking information on the identity of the white male seen with Ms. Legg on surveillance video. The two were seen on September 25, 2013 at the Lowe’s home improvement store in Kanawha City (Charleston, WV), two days after Mr. Hunter’s disappearance. Attached are nine still shots from surveillance video where Ms. Legg and the to-be-identified male are seen purchasing a roll of carpet.
Also attached is the mug shot taken of Ms. Legg during the arrest. As is always the case in criminal matters, the charge against Ms. Legg is merely an accusation. She is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
