December 22, 2013: Accidental Shooting of Ten Year Old in Quick

On December 22, 2013 at approximately 5:30 p.m. a shooting was reported in the 3800 block of Pentacre Road near Quick, Kanawha County WV.  A caller reported to Metro 911 that a nine year old and ten year old were target practicing with a 410 shotgun near a creek when the ten year old was accidentally shot.  The ten year old female received injuries to her arm and chest.

 

Medics were dispatched along with Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputies.  Local volunteer fire department members also responded to render aid.

 

She was transported from the scene by personal vehicle until a responding ambulance with the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority met them along the route.  HealthNet launched a helicopter to assist with transport, but was cancelled when the ambulance was determined to be the fastest mode of transportation and continued to Charleston Area Medical Center’s General Division Hospital with the patient. 

 

The patient was taken into surgery upon arrival.  The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office will not likely issue further updates on the condition of the victim.

 

Detectives with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident.
