September 16, 2017: Suicide Call Leads to Murder Charge

Just after 2:00 a.m. this morning a 911 call was placed reporting a suicide in the Big Chimney area.  As Deputies arrived on scene they began an investigation.
Randall Todd Chapman (47 of Big Chimney) called 911 saying his wife, Shirlene Young, had committed suicide with a firearm.
During the investigation detectives determined her death was a homicide, not a suicide.  Mr. Chapman has been arrested and charged with murder.  His arraignment will occur soon (9:52 a.m. is the time this email is generated).
Additional information will be available in the criminal complaint following arraignment.  As is always the case in criminal matters, the charge against Mr. Chapman is merely an accusation.  He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
