Weather

If you hear loud thunder, take cover.  Lightning strikes are possible whenever thunderstorms are near.  Get inside if possible.  Do not take showers or baths, and don’t use electrical appliances or telephones during thunderstorms.

If you’re caught outdoors during a thunderstorm, seek shelter.  If you’re in a heavily wooded area seek shelter under a thick growth of relatively small trees.  Avoid isolated trees or tall objects.

During flash flooding, stay out of the water!  Water can move much faster than it appears, and depth can be hard to judge during flooding.

Do not drive into flooded areas.  Cars and trucks can begin to float in as little as one foot (12 inches) of water.

Keep children away from flooded streams and drainage ditches.  Soggy banks can collapse during flooding.
