Warrant Arrest Instructions

If you believe there is an active warrant for your arrest you may turn yourself in at Kanawha County Magistrate Court, 111 Court Street in Charleston, at the intersection of Court and Virginia Streets.

At Magistrate Court, an arraignment will occur.  During this process, the presiding Magistrate will set a bond.  Most people prefer to have a family member or friend with them that can post the bond amount.  The amount required to post bond will not be set until the arraignment.

If you are released on bond after turning yourself in on a warrant, a typical condition of that bond requires you to be fingerprinted and photographed, which would take place following any other arrest.  Fingerprints and photographs are taken in a building across Virginia Street at the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.  Directions from Kanawha County Magistrate Court to the processing/booking section of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office can be viewed here.
