On January 28, 2016 Kanawha County Deputy Sheriffs investigated a shooting on Matchlock Road in Davis Creek. A man was shot by his wife during an argument. There is disagreement about how the fight unfolded. After the man was shot by his wife, the wife then attacked another female in the residence.
Afterward, the other female left the residence on foot and was detained by responding Deputy Sheriffs. The man was taken from the scene by a personal vehicle initially. He met an ambulance and was then taken to a hospital. Though his injuries were described as possibly life-threatening, he refused surgery and walked out of the hospital yesterday. The shooter was interviewed by detectives near the scene.
Investigators gathered evidence and conducted interviews yesterday. While more work will be conducted, the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has been briefed on the investigation thus far. Decisions about criminal charges will be made by that office.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office does not typically release names of those involved in incidents subject to an ongoing investigation unless someone involved died or was charged with a crime. At this time the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office will not disclose the names of the shooter or others.
