July 1, 2016: Arrest in Chesapeake Robbery

On June 30, 2016, detectives with the Kanawha Bureau of Investigation obtained a warrant for Adam Grose, 34 years old of New Philadelphia, OH, for first degree robbery.  Mr. Grose is charged for the robbery that occurred at Mama Lina’s, a gambling parlor in Chesapeake, WV.

Detectives believe Mr. Grose and Michael E. Searls robbed the store brandishing a handgun.  They bound the feet and hands of the clerk; then stole cash and the clerk’s vehicle as they fled.

The two are charged with crimes throughout the region and are currently incarcerated in Ohio.  Additional charges are likely at a later time.  Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorneys are in communication with their counterparts in other jurisdictions related to this case.  They will make future charging decisions in this case, as well.

As is always the case in criminal matters, the charge against Mr. Grose (and the accusation against Mr. Searls in the complaint charging Mr. Grose) is merely an accusation.  He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.  Attached is a lightly redacted copy of the complaint.
