August 11, 2016: Arrest in Yesterday’s Bomb Threat

On August 11, 2016 the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest of a juvenile for two counts of making terroristic threats related to a bomb threat yesterday at Sissonville High School. That juvenile is now at the James H. “Tiger” Morton Juvenile Center.

The juvenile used an app on his cell phone to make a phone call, masking his location and identity, to phone in a bomb threat. Detectives with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, working with the assigned School Resource Officer, investigated and linked the calls to the juvenile.

The investigation is continuing. Threats of this type are taken seriously by Kanawha County Schools and the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.

As is always the case in criminal matters, the charges against this juvenile are merely accusations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
