FW: Arrest of Kristopher Evans

After an investigation conducted by the Charleston District Office of the State of West Virginia Parole Office and the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, a warrant was obtained charging Kristopher Lenard Evans, 26 years old from Charleston, with transporting prohibited items into a correctional facility; a felony.

In March of 2017, information had been received by parole officers that illegal contraband was being delivered to inmates at the Charleston Correctional Facility located at 1356 Hansford Street, in Charleston.    An investigation was conducted and determined that Kristopher Evans was passing illegal contraband through a fence at the Correctional Center.  Inmates inside the Correctional Center retrieved the illegal contraband after it was delivered by Mr. Evans.

Kristopher Evans was on parole at the time this incident occurred, and was later arrested for violating his parole.   A generic form of Neurontin and a powder substance was seized from his residence.  This contraband is what is believed to have been what Mr. Evans delivered to inmates at the Charleston Correctional Center.

Mr. Evans was at the South Central Regional Jail for violating his parole and was arrested on April 25, 2017, by Deputies assigned to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office warrants division.   Mr. Evans will be taken before a Kanawha County Magistrate to be arraigned on this charge.

The incident is being investigated by Lt. E.S. Drennan and Parole Officers from the Charleston Parole Office.  Anyone with information on this crime may call 304-357-0169 or submit a tip at www.kanawhasheriff.us.  Attached is a mug shot from Mr. Evans’s arrest.  As is always the case in criminal matters, the charges against Mr. Evans are merely accusations.  He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
