Rand Robbery Update
Charges Filed in April 19 Armed Robbery at Dollar General in Rand
Rand, Kanawha County — Deputy B.L. Shamblin with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has filed charges against 33-year-old Andrew Ryan Nomar of Rand in connection with the armed robbery that occurred at the Dollar General store in Rand on April 19, 2025.
The robbery occurred around 10:00 p.m. when a suspect entered the store, presented a written note to an employee stating he was armed, and demanded compliance. The suspect concealed his identity with a ski mask and gloves and used an umbrella to block security cameras before fleeing in the direction of Athens Avenue.
Thanks to credible information provided by area witnesses who observed suspicious behavior from Nomar both immediately before and after the robbery, deputies were able to identify him as a suspect.
Further investigation and evidence collection by Deputy Shamblin and the KCSO Criminal Investigative Section led to a key breakthrough when the West Virginia State Police forensic laboratory confirmed that Nomar’s fingerprints were found on the demand letter left at the scene.
Nomar, who is currently being held at South Central Regional Jail on unrelated charges, has now been formally charged with felony robbery in connection with this incident.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the cooperation of the public and the assistance of the West Virginia State Police in helping move this case toward resolution.
