Teenager Killed in Accidental Shooting in Glasgow

Glasgow, WV – Just after midnight on Thursday, October 2, 2025, deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting in the 300 block of 4th Avenue in Glasgow.

When deputies arrived, they discovered that a teenage male had been fatally wounded. Detectives with the Criminal Investigative Section responded and learned that two teenage males had been handling a firearm when one of them pointed the weapon at himself and pulled the trigger.

Preliminary investigation indicates the teen did not believe the firearm was loaded; however, the gun discharged, tragically resulting in his death at the scene.

At this time, no additional details regarding the victim or circumstances will be released as the investigation continues.

Sheriff Joe Crawford and the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office urge the public to respect the dangers of firearms, always treat every gun as if it is loaded, and continue to educate children and teens about the risks of mishandling weapons.
