Human Remains Located in the Cabin Creek Area

Cabin Creek, WV — The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after human remains were discovered in the Cabin Creek area late last night.

At approximately 10:45 p.m., Kanawha County Deputies were flagged down by two men who reported finding what they believed to be human remains on a dirt access road near Hill Street and Canady Lane. The men guided deputies to the location, where deputies confirmed that the remains were human and in an advanced state of decomposition.

Deputies and crime scene personnel spent several hours processing the area and collecting evidence. Due to limited visibility, the scene was secured overnight, with deputies maintaining control of the area until detectives could resume their investigation in daylight.

At this time, the remains have not been identified. They will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination, positive identification, and determination of the cause and manner of death.
