Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office Receives $24,895.97 from State Treasurer’s Auction of Seized Firearms

Charleston, WV — The West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office awarded a check for $24,895.97 to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office today. The funds were generated through the online auction of 134 seized firearms previously forfeited during criminal investigations.

Deputies frequently seize firearms in connection with drug-related crimes, violent offenses, and other felony investigations. Once the legal process concludes, eligible firearms are turned over to the State Treasurer’s Office for public auction in accordance with state law.

The proceeds from these sales are returned to local law enforcement agencies to assist with operational needs and public safety initiatives.
