2nd Arrest Made in Theft from United Rentals
Elizabeth Nicole Clay, 41, of Charleston, West Virginia, was arrested on January 7, 2026 with Entry of a Building Other Than a Dwelling and Grand Larceny.
The crime occurred on December 19, 2025, at United Rentals, located at 573 New Goff Mountain Road, Cross Lanes, WV. During the incident, a male suspect entered the property and stole a Ford F-550, a flatbed trailer, and two side-by-side off-road utility vehicles. To exit the property, the suspect utilized an excavator to force open a fence, allowing him to drive away with the stolen items.
During the investigation, deputies learned that a stolen white U-Haul truck was also used in the theft, along with another suspect. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at approximately $85,000.
On December 25, 2025, James Quesenberry was stopped while driving the stolen white U-Haul truck. Further investigation revealed the vehicle had been used during the December 19 theft. During a search of his cellphone, a conversation was found between Quesenberry and Clay from the night of the theft in regards to locating a truck. Based on this information, a search warrant was obtained for Clay’s cellphone. Text messages were found on her cellphone about selling the stolen property from United Rentals the day after the theft.
Clay is currently being held at the South Central Regional Jail on a $2,500 cash only bond.
Further investigation is still being conducted.
Anybody that is arrested is to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
