Happy Retirement

After nearly three decades of dedicated service to law enforcement, Sgt. Jeffrey Wade Eary is officially retiring.
Sgt. Eary joined the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office on January 16, 2007, where he served 19 years with our agency. He finishes his career at the rank of Sergeant and in the role of Area Commander.

His law enforcement career began in 1996 with the Dunbar Police and Fire Dispatch. From there, his service continued with:
• 1998 – Belle Police Department
• 1998 – Dispatcher for Metro 911
• 1999 – Dunbar Police Department
• 2001 – South Charleston Police Department

In total, Sgt. Eary dedicated 30 years to public safety and the citizens of Kanawha County and beyond.

Beyond his daily duties, he also actively serves as Vice President of the South Charleston Fraternal Order of Police and President of the Kanawha Deputy Sheriff’s Association, always fighting for the people who wear the badge.  Over the years, he was instrumental in organizing several Shop with a Deputy events, helping underprivileged children experience a brighter Christmas.

Sgt. Eary’s knowledge, leadership, and unmatched ability to track down suspects will be greatly missed. More importantly, his impact on this department and the deputies he mentored will last far beyond his final shift.

We thank Sgt. Eary for 30 years of service, sacrifice, and commitment, and we wish him the very best in retirement.
