Street Race turns into Pursuit – Ends in Crashes and Arrests
Saint Albans, WV — On February 7, 2026 at 11:00pm, Deputy Moyers of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office observed two yellow Chevrolet Camaros traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on MacCorkle Avenue SW in Saint Albans. The vehicles appeared to be engaged in street racing.
As the vehicles passed Deputy Moyers, he activated his emergency lights and siren and pulled onto the roadway. Both vehicles accelerated rapidly and continued westbound on MacCorkle Avenue SW through the intersection of Winfield Road.
One vehicle, operated by William Aiden Wallace, 22 of Hurricane, crashed just prior to Riverview Drive. The second vehicle, operated by Caleb Dayle Robinett, 20 of Huntington, continued westbound on MacCorkle Avenue SW at a high rate of speed before crashing into a tree near Browns Creek Road. Deputy Carter, Deputy Hill and Deputy Seldon assisted in the pursuit.
Upon contact with Wallace, Deputy Carter detected a strong odor of alcohol. Wallace was observed stumbling while walking and had slurred speech. After being advised of his Miranda rights, Wallace admitted to consuming three “vodka Red Bulls.” He provided a breath sample, which indicated a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .098. Wallace also exhibited signs of impairment during standardized field sobriety tests.
Both individuals were transported to South Central Regional Jail (SCRJ) and were later arraigned by a Kanawha County Magistrate. William Wallace was charged with fleeing while DUI, and his bond was set at $2,500 Cash/Property/Surety. Caleb Dayle Robinett was charged with fleeing with reckless indifference, and his bond was set at $2,000 Cash/Property/Surety.
