K9 Brix has passed away

Brix faithfully served the citizens of Kanawha County before retiring on September 1, 2023. He was 13 years old at the time of his passing this morning. For years, he worked the road, stood beside his partner, Sgt. Mike Dickerson, on difficult calls, and did his job with unmatched loyalty.

After retirement, he stayed right where he belonged, with Sgt. Dickerson, who now serves as a School Resource Officer for the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Offie. Their bond never changed. It never does.

Brix wasn’t just a K-9. He was family.
