The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of text messages claiming recipients missed a court appearance related to an unpaid toll. These messages are fraudulent.

The message references a court location at City National Bank and lists a judge that does not exist. Additionally, the message does not include your name or vehicle information, which is a clear indicator it is not legitimate.

Please be advised:
• The Sheriff’s Office does NOT request payment of fines through text messages, links, or QR codes.
• Official court matters will be handled through proper legal documentation, not unsolicited text messages.

If you receive this message, do not respond. Delete it and block the number.
