HUMAN REMAINS FOUND DURING SEARCH WARRANT
Big Chimney, WV –On May 15, 2026, members of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence located at 355 Offutt Drive in Big Chimney, West Virginia, in connection with the missing person investigation involving 16-year-old Shayln Harvey.
Since being reported missing on May 4, 2026, detectives have been conducting interviews, collecting evidence, and following up on numerous leads, which ultimately led investigators to obtain a search warrant for the property. The search was conducted with the assistance of cadaver K-9 teams from WV K-9 Search and Rescue as part of the ongoing investigation.
During the search, investigators discovered female human remains on the property. The remains will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for positive identification and further examination.
At this stage of the investigation, no additional information will be released pending confirmation of the identity of the remains.
Chief Sean Snuffer stated:
“I want to commend the work of our Patrol Division and Detective Bureau throughout this investigation. This is not the outcome anyone hoped for in a missing person case, but we hope this development may provide some measure of closure to the family and friends.”
