Deputy Spotlight

Recently, a woman contacted Metro 911 to report that her ex-boyfriend had made statements indicating he intended to take his own life by hanging.  

Corporal J.S. Ashcraft and Deputy C.R. Carter responded immediately to the residence, where they found the man unconscious and hanging from a rope.

The deputies quickly cut him down, ultimately saving his life.

While law enforcement is often associated with enforcing the law and making arrests, moments like these serve as a reminder that protecting life is at the heart of the profession. The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to serving the public with courage, compassion, and dedication, answering the call whenever our community needs us most.
