25 Years Later, We Remember

Twenty-five years ago today, our country was changed forever.

While we remember the thousands of innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, we also remember the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

Today, we remember the sacrifices of those who never made it home, the families who continue to carry that loss, and the generations of law enforcement officers and first responders who have carried their example forward.

Here at the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, many of the men and women who wore the KCSO badge that day answered the call to serve their community, just as they had done every day before it. For some, 9/11 would change the way they viewed this profession forever.

To the deputies of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, both past and present, and to the firefighters, EMS personnel, dispatchers, law enforcement officers, and other first responders who continue to answer the call, thank you for your service, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting and serving our communities.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
