U-Haul crashes into Elkview Residence
On March 24, 2026, a U-Haul traveling north on Elk River Rd. North in Elkview left the roadway and crashed into a residence. The vehicle went through the foundation wall and partially into the basement of the home.
The crash caused a water and gas leak inside the home; however, both utilities were able to be shut off prior to working the scene.
The driver suffered severe injuries and was transported to the hospital by medics. The homeowner was on the opposite end of the residence at the time of the crash and was not injured.
Witnesses on scene stated that speed appeared to be a factor in the crash. This investigation is ongoing and charges may be pending.
The scene was worked by the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, Kanawha County Ambulance, Charleston Fire Department, Pinch Volunteer Fire Department, Frame Volunteer Fire Department, and Kanawha County Emergency Management.
