K9 BINGO HELPS CAPTURE WANTED FEDERAL FUGITIVE AFTER MANHUNT
Kanawha Co, WV – Deputy B.L. Shamblin with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding the whereabouts of wanted fugitive Samuel Manriquez, who had an active federal warrant and was believed to be in the area of Dunbar.
Field Operations D-Shift attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by Manriquez who then fled on foot along with several other occupants, including one individual who was armed.
Investigators later received a credible tip that Manriquez had fled to a residence on Washington Street West in Cross Lanes. After refusing to exit the residence during a lengthy standoff with units from both B and D Shift, deputies began the process of obtaining a search warrant. The homeowner returned home and cooperated with deputies, allowing them entry into the residence.
Once inside, K9 Bingo then located the clothing Manriquez was wearing earlier as well as Manriquez hiding inside a closet.
Manriquez surrendered and was taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening animal bites.
Deputies also seized a large amount of fentanyl during the investigation, and additional charges are expected.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Dunbar Police Department and the West Virginia State Police in assisting us in this matter.
ALL SUSPECTS ARE TO BE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW
