BREAKING & ENTERING SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER HIDING IN CLOTHES RACK
RAND, WV – On September 1, 2026, at approximately 6:00 a.m., members of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and Field Operations B-Shift were dispatched to the Rand Community Center in Rand, WV, for a breaking and entering in progress.
The complainant had access to a live surveillance feed and observed a female place a ladder against the building and climb onto the roof.
Cpl. T.S. Dubiel, Deputy Garretson and Deputy Sergent arrived and climbed the ladder to the roof, where they located several items and an open window. Deputies entered the building and began searching for the suspect.
They eventually located Holly April Thacker hiding inside a clothes rack.
Thacker had a bag containing several stolen items, and deputies also located suspected narcotics on her person. Deputies also discovered that Thacker had defecated in a bowl inside the room where she was hiding.
Thacker was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Thacker admitted to breaking into the community center on two previous occasions. Those incidents were later confirmed through surveillance video.
Thacker was arraigned in Kanawha County Magistrate Court and was ordered held on a $6,000 cash-only bond. She is currently being held at the South Central Regional Jail.
This is an active investigation and additional charges are pending.
Anybody that is arrested is to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
